<p class=”MsoNormal” style=”mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; line-height: normal; background: white;”><span lang=”PT” style=”font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: ‘Segoe UI’,sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: ‘Times New Roman’; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-fareast-language: PT;”>Yes, my feeling is one of hope, that through volunteer work and Course Unit like this one, we will be able to build a more human and dignified reality for people. I learned about myself that I am able to adapt to innovative Course Unit, challenging projects, colleagues from different areas and changes along the way. So, as other people have also shown me this ability and this willingness to do good and turn ideas into reality.

<p class=”MsoNormal” style=”mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; line-height: normal; background: white;”><span lang=”PT” style=”font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: ‘Segoe UI’,sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: ‘Times New Roman’; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-fareast-language: PT;”>I learned that no matter where I am, I will always find people with good intentions and who want to make a difference in the world, but that it’s not always possible to do everything we want in the time we have and the deadlines we have. Yes, I believe that community involvement is changing my perspective on reality in relation to people living in isolation at home and also to people who needed to be removed from their families, as they were at risk with them.

<p class=”MsoNormal” style=”mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; line-height: normal; background: white;”><span lang=”PT” style=”font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: ‘Segoe UI’,sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: ‘Times New Roman’; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-fareast-language: PT;”>Yes, it even changed my view of volunteer work, as before I thought it would be very painful to deal with traumatized or suffering people and now I realize that it is possible to help people without suffering along with them. Regarding academic development, it has helped me to connect the contents I learn in this Course Unit and in the Psychology because it brings the practical part of how people relate to themselves and their communities, as well as I needed to think in new ways to fight loneliness in a light, positive and intergenerational way.

<p class=”MsoNormal” style=”mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; line-height: normal; background: white;”><span lang=”PT” style=”font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: ‘Segoe UI’,sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: ‘Times New Roman’; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-fareast-language: PT;”>Yes, because today I can see that it is possible to transmute the view I had that Learning in Service/Service needs to materialize buildings, schools, community gardens or tangible things, I realized that the exchange of experiences and the attention directed to people in the community many times is as transformative as the examples I talked about above. And this experience comes from the fact that all the partners we spoke with liked our project idea and are already working with this immaterial construction of community service, which can be connected with Carl Rogers’ Humanist Therapy and Paulo Freire’s vision about of pedagogy.

<p class=”MsoNormal” style=”mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; line-height: normal; background: white;”><span lang=”PT” style=”font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: ‘Segoe UI’,sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: ‘Times New Roman’; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-fareast-language: PT;”>The only change I would recommend is that the activities be designed according to the moment the Course Unit occurs, in our case (the group I am part of), we spend a lot of time without being able to perform the tasks or without feeling comfortable to write the reflections , as a result of the pandemic. And that generated unnecessary feelings of frustration and anxiety (we were already feeling them in other areas of life).
